APPLIED SOLUTIONS:
Licence plate recognition, low-speed weigh-in-motion and laser dimensional classification systems were installed in 200 light vehicle lanes to avoid arbitrariness in the control of vehicles.
The aim is to obtain profiles of each vehicle to look for inconsistencies between its type, weight and the data recorded via its licence plate, in order to determine transport monitoring by automatic criteria and not by chance or at the discretion of the officer on duty. For example, a pick-up truck or van has a well-defined outline depending on whether the load is open or covered, its tare is recognisable and its number plate must effectively match the vehicle type. A vehicle inspection is automatically ordered if any deviation from the preset patterns is detected.
The inspection business rules can change as many times as the central administration decides, with the databases residing in Mexico City, from where the indicators are processed to remotely decide which vehicles are inspected at any border point. KINEO was involved in this project with its vehicle licence plate recognition (LPR) system in the local integration carried out in 2011.
RESULT:
Transparent and dynamic unattended vehicle control system by integrating multiple technologies.
