ELECTRONIC CONTROL TO DETECT VEHICLES CROSSING RED TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND/OR MAKING IMPROPER TURNS

Kineo / ELECTRONIC CONTROL TO DETECT VEHICLES CROSSING RED TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND/OR MAKING IMPROPER TURNS

The RED PHOTO electronic control systems control one of the most dangerous behaviours that can be observed in urban areas, generating a multitude of accidents and collisions with pedestrians. We have fixed and portable systems to achieve the highest possible level of deterrence with the lowest possible investment thanks to devices that can be easily relocated and configured at each crossing (by the number of lanes, the distance of the support available for installation relative to the intrusion detection zone (the pedestrian crossing).

These systems are based on detecting any intrusion beyond the traffic light stop line when the light is red. The system shoots video footage lasting a few seconds, showing the vehicle driving metres before and after the stop zone with the red light in the same scene. It also saves 5 still photos of different moments before and after the line. These are always taken while the light is red, and a final photo is then taken, automatically acquiring the licence plate number to facilitate the processing of evidence.

We can work with video analytics to detect the change from green to red, thus activating the virtual intrusion area or physically connected to the traffic signal controller to receive a physical signal that activates the virtual detection zone.

The whole electronic transport control process is performed locally, so data transmission needs are very low and can be handled using GPRS/3G.

A similar system in terms of hardware is the detection of illegal turns in areas where U-turns and right or left turns are not allowed. At KINEO we use video analysis to detect these behaviours and the equipment can be relocated with a simple repositioning at each site. If such behaviour is not deemed to be frequent (and does not generate a large volume of evidence), we could dispense with automatic number plate reading to make the solution more cost-effective.

This KINEO equipment generates evidence that will serve to support the levying of penalties or fines, after a validation process by public officials, as established by the regulations in each country. In some cases, customers will already have penalty management platforms in place, with KINEO integrating the validated evidence database and continuing the process within this corporate environment. In other electronic control cases, KINEO can manage up to the issuance of the penalty slip or fine in compliance with applicable local legislation.
