Bicycle detection solutions using inductive loops dominate the market, but KINEO considers that it is not possible to produce the best possible result with this type of traffic counting, as there are more and more bicycles with little or no metal capable of activating the loops, and this will only increase as lighter bicycles become increasingly cheaper. Consequently, KINEO promotes the use of bicycle counters using piezoelectric sensors.
Bicycle counters record axle pressure and, depending on the installation of one or two sensors, detect the bicycle’s directionality. We can install sensors with different detection zones to identify bicycles that go more or less in parallel, situations that are impossible to detect using loops. Thus, a tightly packed group of 4 cyclists may be counted as only one or none, depending on the type of bicycle used.
